Some symbols represent the lose of life for a cause. One example is the Alamo in Texas where all the men died defending a mission from the overwhelming army of Mexico. Their task was impossible and they gave the ultimate sacrifice.
The task you will start is a search for symbols that are popular, you will be able to measure the popularity of the symbols by using search results' numbers in such fine search engines like Google
The content of your search will result in a great deal of exposure to our American National symbols, which is something I really want you to know. Some symbols you will find on your own as each of you will have different interest areas. Thus, when you find something that interest you, then the human reaction is to share it with your friends. Middle Schoolers love to talk and you know it's the truth. They in-turn will listen to you more that if I stand in front of the room and share all day.
My second goal for you is to reach way down into what gets your attention. I am asking you to find a symbol for a cause or event, maybe even a place that is near and dear to you. Then you will share with everyone... what it is ...that you have found. So, create a Powerpoint put the information in it, make it beautiful and drop it in my drop box.
